FERRUM, Va. -- Jaun Luna scored with 51 seconds left in regulation to tie the game, then Jake Lind nailed the game-winner 1:51 into overtime to lift Eastern Mennonite University to a 3-2 non-conference men's soccer win over Ferrum College tonight at Penn-Roediger Field.
Micah Abel scored first for the Panthers in the 28th minute of play with an assist from
Cristian Turcios. Eastern Mennonite tied the game in the 48th minute when Mark Mast found the back of the net.
Jae White then scored an unassisted goal when he chipped EMU goalkeeper Andrew Yoder in the 63rd minute to put Ferrum on top 2-1.
Luna then beat Ferrum goalkeeper
Zach Moorman with a shot at 89:09 to send the game into overtime, where Lind's goal in the 92nd minute was the difference in the match. Moorman had five saves for Ferrum (2-5-1), while Yoder posted seven saves for the Royals (3-4-2)
Ferrum plays a pair of USA South Athletic Conference games this weekend at home. Coach Andrew Pauly's team hosts Huntingdon College Friday, Sept. 26, at 7:00 p.m. and LaGrange College Sunday, Sept. 28, at 12:00 p.m. Both are part of doubleheaders with the Panther women.
