FERRUM, Va. -- Michael Midyette's goal in the 78th minute proved to be the game-winner in Ferrum College's 3-2 USA South Athletic Conference men's soccer win over LaGrange College this afternoon at Penn-Roediger Field.

Benjamin Memmler gave LaGrange an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the ninth minute of play with an assist from Raymond Haas. Cristian Turcios evened the score when he found of the back of the net at 19:50 off a Keith Ricks pass. The score remained 1-1 through halftime. Terrance Andrews gave Ferrum a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 74th minute, with Ricks again earning an assist.

Less than four minutes, Midyette scored what looked like an insurance goal off a Turcios pass and Ferrum led 3-1. LaGrange (1-8-1, 0-2 USA South) made a late push, with David Flores notching a goal with 23 seconds left in regulation. Zach Moorman played all 90 minutes in net for Ferrum, posting six saves. AJ Wilson played the entire 90 minutes in net for LaGrange, with 12 stops.

Ferrum (3-5-2, 1-2-1 USA South) returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 2, at William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Coach Andrew Pauly's team will then host North Carolina Wesleyan College Saturday, Oct. 4. Both contests are part of USA South doubleheaders played with the Panther women.
