Ferrum Men Ground Hawks 81-71

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Jamal Pullen was 13-16 from the floor for a game-high 29 points as Ferrum College picked up an 81-71 USA South Athletic Conference men's basketball win over Huntingdon College this afternoon on the road.

The Panthers jumped out to a 15-8 lead and eventually led 44-35 at halftime. Huntingdon got to within three points in the second half, 61-58, when Andre Ashley converted one of two free throws with 6:12 left to play. Ferrum finished with a 20-13 run to close out the game.

Alek Ayer had 24 points and 11 rebounds for Ferrum, while Tyler Mann added 11 points. Dantavius Washington had 17 points for the Hawks (2-11, 1-2 USA South). Ashley had 15 points, while Raheem Berry and Jerome Davis chipped in 13 points each.

Ferrum (6-9, 1-3 USA South) returns to action Sunday, Jan. 18, at LaGrange College. The USA South game tips off at 1:00 p.m. in LaGrange, Georgia, and will be followed immediately by the Ferrum-LaGrange women's game at 3:00 p.m.
