FERRUM, Va. --
Rashawn Speas led Ferrum College to a 67-63 USA South Athletic Conference men's basketball win over Piedmont College tonight at Swartz Gym. Speas had a game-high 17 points to go with six rebounds.
Alek Ayer and
Jamal Pullen had 16 points each for Ferrum, while
Marvin Wilson added 10 points. The Panthers were out-rebounded 34-27, but Ferrum was 25-43 from the free throw line compared to Piedmont's 10-17. Ferrum led 35-24 at the break. Justin Vallejo and Marquise Lanier had 12 points each for the Lions (8-7, 3-2 USA South).
Ferrum (7-10, 2-4 USA South) returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Greensboro College. The USA South clash tips off at 7:00 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina. Coach Bill Tharp's team returns home for another USA South game against William Peace University on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 4:00 p.m.
