FERRUM, Va. -- William Peace University staged a furious rally in the final nine minutes of play to post a 66-64 come-from-behind USA South Athletic Conference men's basketball win over Ferrum College this afternoon at Swartz Gym.

Marvin Wilson's three-point basket gave Ferrum a 57-41 lead with 8:56 left in regulation. The Pacers chipped away at the lead over the next eight minutes to take a 63-61 lead on Jalen Vince's layup with 1:06 remaining. With 13 seconds left to play, Vince made one of two free throws to make it 64-61, but Ferrum's Tyler Mann hit a three-pointer with four seconds left to deadlock the game at 64-64.

A Ferrum foul put Nate Strother at the line for William Peace (9-9-, 5-2 USA South), where he sank a pair of free throws for the win. Shawn Shaffer led all scorers with 22 points for the Pacers, while Vince added 15 points and Strother had 13. Ferrum led 34-26 at the break and out-rebounded the Pacers 32-25.

Jamal Pullen had 17 points to lead Ferrum (7-12, 2-6 USA South), while DJ Christian had 11 points. The Panthers will be back in action Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Averett University. The USA South game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in Danville, Virginia, and will be followed immediately by the Ferrum-Averett women's game.
