WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- Ferrum College made its women's wrestling program debut at the Patriot Duals, being held at the University of the Cumberlands Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10. The Panthers wrestled Missouri Baptist University, Oklahoma City University, and Lindenwood University-Belleville.

How It Happened
The Panthers fell 40-9 to Missouri Baptist with Rebecca Forsyth picking up the lone win with an 8-4 win in the 101-lb weight class and Madison Himes winning by forfeit at 123. Ferrum lost 43-5 to Oklahoma City, scoring points on Forsth's forfeit win at 101, then dropped a 44-10 match to Lindenwood-Belleville with a double-forfeit at 136 and Samantha Hurt's forfeit win at 191. Also competing for the Panthers in the inaugural event were Keely Holloway (109), Victoria Meza (170) and Tressa Alfaro (155).

"To get to an elite level in wrestling is a process," said Ferrum Head Coach Chris Michael. "We're working hard both on and off the mat to achieve our goals, and I think we have a solid foundation here."

Up Next for Ferrum
The Panthers will close out action at the Patriot Duals Saturday, Oct. 10, with three more matches. Coach Michael's squad will face Campbellsville University, Emmanuel College and one additional team yet to be announced.
