FERRUM, Va. -- The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the 2015 VaSID Wrestling All-State Team and Ferrum College's Nick Rodriguez has been included on the first team in the 197-pound weight class.

Rodriguez closed out the season with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division III East Regional, hosted by Ferrum March 1 at the Berglund Center in Roanoke. A freshman from Clayton, New Jersey, Rodriguez finished with a 23-4 overall record, including nine pins. Rodriguez is Ferrum's second VaSID All-State selection, joining Justin Zimmerman, who earned second team honors last season at 133 pounds.

Rodriguez opened the year at the Pembroke Classic in November, earning the 197-lb title. In January, he was named the College Division Outstanding Wrestler at the 2015 Virginia Duals, one of the oldest collegiate wrestling tournaments in the country. His fourst-place finish at the NCAA East Regional in March left him one win shy of an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Ferrum finished 8-10 this year under second-year Head Coach Nate Yetzer. The Panthers were second at the Builder Invitational, fifth at the Virginia Duals and seventh at the NCAA Div. III East Regional. Recently, the College announced a decision to add a women's collegiate and men's club wrestling programs. Both programs are slated to begin competition this fall.
