Runners Compete at Hagan Stone Classic

RESULTS

PLEASANT GARDEN, N.C. -- Ferrum College's men's and women's cross country teams competed last weekend at the 2016 Hagan Stone Classic, held Saturday, Oct. 1, at Hagan Stone Park. Both Panther teams finished ninth in their respective team standings. Due to a scoring miscalculation, final results have just now become available.

On the women's side, Ferrum finished ninth of 10 teams. Sirena Pangelinan finished 43rd in a field of 84 runners with a time of 23:30 in the 5K race. Dorothy Carroll was 54th at 24:35, Amanda Nelson was 60th at 25:19, Kristin Perry was 68th at 26:50 and Bethany Short was 78th at 30:40.

Ferrum's men finished last in a field of nine teams. Alexander Johnson was the Panthers' top finisher, closing the 8K course in a time of 33:14 to place 65th in a field of 100 runners. Mark Allan was 77th at 34:32, Brett Binnix was 83rd at 34:55, Diego Zanistanavicius was 93rd at 37:19 and Justin Stubbs was 100th at 49:59.

Coach Paul Biggs' harriers will return to action Saturday, Oct. 29, at the USA South Athletic Conference Championships. The event will be hosted at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia.
