FERRUM, Va. --
Anderson Ramos scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Ferrum College to a 7-6 USA South baseball win over Maryville College this afternoon at Panther Field. The win gave Ferrum a 2-1 edge in the league series against the Scots. Yesterday the two teams split, with Ferrum winning the opener 7-3 and Maryville taking the nightcap 6-4.

How It HappenedMaryville scored a run in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie. The Panthers answered with six runs in the seventh to take a 6-1 lead. Following a scoreless eighth inning, the Scots erupted for five runs in the ninth to send the game inte extra innings. Ramos opened the bottom of the frame with a double to left-center.
Jake Martin then reached base on a throwing error by pitcher Joe Jones and Ramos advanced to third.
Jo Stickney walked to load the bases with no outs.
Jordan Carmony then struck out and when the ball got away from catcher Eric Hart, Ramos dashed home to score the game-winning run.
Lorenzo Allensworth was credited with the win after facing four batters in the 10th inning, his only action of the night, and allowing one hit, no runs and no walks.
