FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College completed a three-game USA South baseball series sweep over Averett University with today's 8-0 win in game three at Panther Field. In the process, the Panthers claimed the outright regular season title and grabbed the top seed in this week's USA South Tournament.

How It Happened
Ferrum got all it would need with a four-run first inning on a pair of two-RBI doubles by Lane Deaver and Jo Stickney. Lucas Stevers, who went 4-4 this afternoon, had an RBI single in the second inning, then Stickney had an RBI double in the fifth. Ty Comer hit a solo homer to left center in the seventh inning, and the Panthers added a run in the eighth inning.

Back to the Park
Coach Ryan Brittle's team will be back in action Tuesday, April 12, at Eastern Mennonite University. The non-conference game gets underway at 4:00 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Panthers then head to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to play in the USA South Tournament. Ferrum opens against #8 seed Averett Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
