FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College secured at least a share of the USA South regular season baseball title with tonight's 5-2 win over Averett University at Panther Field. The win was the second in as many day over the Cougars.

Jo Stickney then doubled to right-center to drive in three runs. Averett scored another run in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 3-2, but Ferrum answered with a run in the sixth. The Panthers added an insurance run in the eighth inning on
Jake Martin's RBI double down the left field line.

Ryan Brittle's team will be back in action Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Panther Field to play the last of three games against the Cougars. A win would secure an outright USA South title and grab the top seed in next week's USA South Tournament, to be played Thursday through Sunday, April 14-17, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
