BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Ferrum College's men's and women's cross country teams competed for the first time this season at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational, held Friday, Sept. 15, at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course.

The Panther men placed fourth of four college division teams, with Brett Binnix placing 111th of 147 runners. Also completing for the Ferrum men were Alexander Johnson (144th), Pablo Zanistanavicius (145th), Mark Allan (146th) and Justin Stubbs (147th).

The Panther women finished sixth of six teams in the college division, with Cynthia Aldama the top runner after placing 103rd in a field of 116 runners. Also competing for the Ferrum were Amanda Nelson (108th), Kaylee Buchanan (114th), Bethany Short (115th) and Tayler Kleemoff (116th).

Coach Ryan Riggs' team will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 30, at the 2017 Greensboro Invitational. The race wil be held at Hagan Stone Park in Pleasant Garden, North Carolina.
