SWEET BRIAR, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped a non-conference field hockey game to Sweet Briar College this afternoon on the road, falling 5-1 in a contest played at Amherst County High School.

THE BASICS
Avery Jones scored first for Sweet Briar at the 3:34 mark, then Colleen Goodly scored nine minutes later to make it a 2-0 game after the first quarter. Kailey McCarthy notched a goal with seven minutes to go in the second quarter and the Vixens had a 3-0 lead at the break.
McCarthy scored 1:19 into the third quarter then Giselle Vega poked a shot into the back of the cage for a 5-0 lead late in the third.
Thabelo Nemulodi helped Ferrum avoid the shutout with a goal in the waning minutes of the game.
Riley Hines was credited with an assist on the goal. Goalkeeper
Anna Corsey posted 14 saves for the Panthers.
