MARIETTA, Georgia -- Ferrum College's women's wrestling team competed Saturday, November 12, in the Eagle Madness Open, hosted by Life University.
THE BASICS
Five women represented Ferrum Saturday, including senior
Ryann Tyree (170 lbs) and freshmen
Elexa Jimenez (136 lbs),
Jazmene Molina (130 lbs),
Skie Roulo (143 lbs), and
Jordan Wilson (170 lbs).
Molina closed the day with a 3-2 mark and placed fifth at 130 pounds. She opened the tournament with a 10-0 tech fall over Sierra Marie Miller of Presbyterian, then pinned Olivia Hogan of Cumberlands in 57 seconds in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Molina ran into Life's Zaynah McBryde and dropped an 11-0 tech fall, then lost 10-0 by tech fall to Miller. Molina closed the day with a 32-second pin over Evelyne Vazquez or Emmanuel in the fifth-place match.
Jimenez wrestled twice in the 136 pound weight class, losing an 11-0 tech fall to Hannah Wecer of Montreat, and lsoing by fall to Life's Ulyette Curiel.
Roulo went 1-2 at 143 pounds. She opened with a loss by fall to Merianyeli Mercado Marte of Brewton Parker, then pinned Gabriella Majewski of Montreat in 1:04 in the first round of the consolations to stay alive. Roulo then lost by fall to Greensboro's Isabella Ruiz and was eliminated.
Wilson dropped a pair of matches in the 170 pound weight class. She opened with a 13-3 loss to unattached wrestler Cierra Abrego, then lost by fall to Avry Warren of Brewton Parker.
Tyree also wrestled at 170 pounds, opening with a loss by fall to Montreat's Brittney Zenteno. In her first consolation match, Tyree won by injury default over Mina Hicks of Montreat. She then lost by fall to Abrego.
