Field Hockey Posts Comeback Road Win in OT

BALTIMORE, Maryland -- Ferrum College scored 10 minutes into overtime to post a 2-1 comeback win over Notre Dame of Maryland University this afternoon at Alumnae Field. The Panthers closed the game with a penalty stroke for the win.

THE BASICS
Notre Dame drew first blood with an unassisted goal by Alyson Geckle just 2:10 into the game. Ferrum got to work, putting pressure on the Gators throughout the remainder of the first half.

Riley Hines got Ferrum on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at 36:47 in the third quarter. The Panthers closed regulation with a 10-4 shot advantage, but the game went into overtime.

The first overtime period ended with a penalty stroke for Ferrum. Hines stepped up confidently and laced a shot past Gator goalkeeper Harley Barton for the win.
