LYNCHBURG, Virginia -- Ferrum Colleges men's lacrosse team dropped its season opener this afternoon at University of Lynchburg, falling 22-1 at Shellenberger Field.

THE BASICS
Lynchburg established control early, rolling up a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and a 12-0 lead at the break. The Hornets extended the lead to 16-0 just under the seven-minute mark of the third quarter.
Terrance Scales broke up the shutout with an unassisted goal for Ferrum in the 43rd minute of play to make it a 16-1 game after three quarters. Lynchburg tacked on another six goals in the fourth quarter for the final count.Â
