FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball game this afternoon at home to Averett University, falling 6-5 at Panther Field. The Panthers led 4-0 early on, only to see Averett come back and post the league win.

THE BASICS
Ferrum got a run in the first inning on
Nick Funk's RBI single to left field, then added a run in the second on
Bryce Thacker's RBI single up the middle.
The Panthers added a pair of runs in the third inning when
Enrique Diaz ripped a two-RBI triple to center field, extending the lead to 4-0.
Averett answered with four runs in the fifth inning, including Chris Byrd's three-run homer over the right field fence, to tie the game at 4-4. The Cougars tacked on a pair of runs in the seventh inning to take a 6-4 lead.
Ferrum scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning on
Benjamin Thomas' RBI single through the right side, but
Jaden Johnson was caught in a run down between second and third base for the final out of the game.
