FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball doubleheader with University of Lynchburg this afternoon at Vickie Van Kleeck Softball Complex. The Panthers took the opener 4-3 in eight innings, before seeing Lynchburg take the nightcap 2-0.

GAME 1
In game one, Ferrum erased a 1-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, courtesy of three straight Hornet errors and an 2-RBI double by
Wynema Thomas. Lynchburg picked up two runs in the top of the fifth inning, including Gracie Dooley's solo bomb to right field.
Macie Bell's bunt single in the bottom of the eighth inning drove in the game-winning run for Ferrum, with
Breanna Weaver crossing the plate.Â

Karle Cundiff's RBI single through the left side in the opening frame of the nightcap gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead. Dooley reached on an error in the top of the sixth inning, with Kailey Hackett scoring on the play for Lynchburg's final run.
