Baseball Splits ODAC Twinbill with W&L

FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball doubleheader with Washington and Lee University at home, taking the opener 4-3 and dropping the nightcap 11-5 this afternoon at Panther Field.

GAME 1
Ozzie Torres scored on a double steal to tie the game at 1-1 after one inning. Grayson Chitwood's groundout to first base in the second pushed a run across the plate and Ferrum led 2-1 after two full innings. The Generals scored two in the top of the fifth to grab a 3-2 lead, but Ferrum answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame for the tying and winnings runs.

GAME 2
W&L scored two runs in the first inning, then Ferrum's Clayton Michael's single through the left side made it a 2-1 game after an inning. The Generals added two runs in the sixth inning, but Michael's three-run homer to left field tied the game at 4-4 after six full innings. The Generals added two runs in the seventh, before Ozzie Torres's double down the left field line drove in a run to make it a 6-5 W&L game after seven innings. Washington and Lee added three runs in the ninth inning to make oit a 9-5 game.
