FERRUM, Virginia -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) has announced Football Players of the Week for games played on Saturday, November 2, and Ferrum College had a pair of players honored.
Sophomore running back
Jahylen Lee has been named Football Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while senior placekicker
Seth Deaton grabbed his first Football Special Teams Player of the Week honor. Lee and Deaton factored heavily into Ferrum's 20-7 road win Nov. 2 over Guilford College.
Lee rushed 30 times for 211 yards and a touchdown, and hauled in a pass for 14 yards against Guilford. He earned his first ODAC Offensive Player of the Week honor on September 15, after leading the Panthers to a 28-24 non-conference win at North Carolina Wesleyan University.
Deaton knocked down a pair of field goals against the Quakers, from 36 yards out and a new school record 48-yarder, and successfully converted a pair of PATs. Ferrum's previous longest field goal record was 47 yards, established by Clint Slappey 17 years ago in 2007.
Ferrum's win over Guilford evened its record at 4-4 overall, including a 2-3 ODAC mark. Coach Kevin Sherman's team will be back in action Saturday, November 9, at Randolph-Macon College. Kickoff for the ODAC game is set for 1:00 p.m. in Ashland, Virginia.
