FERRUM, Virginia -- The Ferrum College baseball team lost 8-5 in the final game of the three game series against Wittenberg University at Panther Field this afternoon.

THE BASICS
Wittenberg's Matt Moore hit a 3-run homerun to take an early 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Bryce Thacker drove in
Davis Yeaman in the bottom of the first on a single to right field. Ferrum tied the game in the bottom half of the fifth inning after
Clayton Michael's sac bunt was overthrown by the pitcher, allowing him to advance all the way to third base and Yeaman and
Tyler Mason to score.
Benjamin Thomas hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, driving in Michael and giving the Panthers a 4-3 lead.
Thacther Dietz tied the game up for Wittenberg in the sixth inning with a solo shot to left field. The Tigers would go on to score two runs in the seventh and eighth innings to lead 8-4 going into the bottom of the ninth inning. Thacker hit into a fielder's choice, allowing Mason to score from third, the final run of the game for Ferrum.
