FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College lost a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball games to visiting Randolph-Macon College, falling 8-5 in the opener and 21-10 in the nightcap. The doubleheader opened ODAC play for both teams today at Panther Field.

GAME ONE
Ferrum jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning, scoring a run off
Clayton Michael's single through the right side and two runs off
Mason Moffett's RBI double to right-center.
Randolph-Macon erupted for five runs in the top of the second inning, including two runs on Aaron Lautenschlager's double to right-center. Ferrum answered with a run in the bottom of the frame on Michael's sac fly to right field.
The Yellow Jackets added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth on an RBI single and a throwing error. Ferrum scored its final run of the game in the bottom of the eighth in Michael's RBI single down the third base line. R-MC added a run in the ninth on a groundout.

GAME TWO
In the nightcap, Randolph-Macon scored three in the first inning, but
Shawn Baxter and
Bryce Thacker each had RBI doubles in the bottom half of the frame to trim the lead to 3-2. The Yellow Jackets erupted for six runs in the second inning, including two on Cole Harvey's RBI double to center field. Ferrum picked up a run in the bottom of the second, courtesy of a fielding error.
Randolph-Macon continued to score every inning through the seventh, building a 21-10 lead after seven fulling innings. Ferrum would score runs through the seventh inning as well, including a
Shawn Baxter two-run homer in the third inning, and a
Benjamin Thomas' RBI single through the left side in the fifth that pushed two more runs across the plate.
