Baseball Drops Mid-Week ODAC Game

GREENSBORO, North Carolina -- The Ferrum College Baseball team saw their four game win streak come to an end on the road 14-11 to Guilford College at McBane Field this afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

THE BASICS
Bryce Thacker's two-run double in the first inning put Ferrum in front early 2-0. Kyle Markowitz and Tyler Mason both hit solo homeruns in the second inning and Clayton Michael had an RBI single to center, extending the lead to 5-0. Davis Yeaman's triple in the third scored a run for the Panthers, to go ahead 6-0. Guilford got on the board with a field's choice to prevent a shutout.

Then in the fifth inning Markowitz tripled to left center, scoring two runs and would score on the Shawn Baxter's double to lead 9-1 headed into the bottom of the fifth. The Quakers responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, cutting the lead to 9-6. A six run sixth inning would put Guilford in front 12-9 and the would hold onto the lead for the rest of the game. 

Michael hit an RBI double in the eighth inning and would come home on Thacker's single to pull within one, 12-11 headed into the bottom half of the inning. Nick Boles two-run shot to left field gave the Quakers some insurance runs and a 14-11 win.
