FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped both ends of a non-conference softball doubleheader with Misericordia University, losing the opener 9-4 and and the nightcap 15-8 this afternoon at Vickie Van Kleeck Field.

GAME ONE
Misericordia picked up two runs in the first inning off a sac fly and and an RBI single. Georgia Carter's RBI single through the left side got Ferrum on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning to trim the score to 2-1. The Cougars added a run in the third off an RBI double, then Breanna Weaver belted a solo homer to center field in the bottom of the frame to make it a 3-2 game after three full innings.

Misericordia added three runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-2. Macey Moore had an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth, then Macie Bell's sac fly to left field drove in Ferrum's final run.

GAME TWO
The Cougars exploded for five runs in the first inning, including Emily Susanj's two-run homer to left field. Ferrum answered with four in the bottom of the inning, two on Moore's double to right center, a Macie Bell RBI single up the middle, and a Carsen Hogston RBI single to left. Each team added a run in the second inning, then Misericordia picked up a run each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to lead 9-5.
 
Ferrum picked up a pair pf runs in the bottom of the fifth on a Kylie Atkins RBI double to right field and a Kerstin Snyder sac fly to left. Misericordia erupted tor six runs in the sixth inning to push the lead to 15-7. Leanna Bartrug had a sac fly to center field that allowed Weaver to cross the plate for Ferrum's final run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
