FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to pick up a 4-3 win in the nightcap and salvage a split in today's non-conference softball doubleheader with Greensboro College, at Vickie Van Kleeck Field.

GAME ONE
Lauren Engel pitched a complete game three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts to help Greensboro take the opener. The Pride scored a run each in the first and third innings, and added two in the fourth to make it 4-0. Greensboro then added two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the seventh for the final count.

GAME TWO
Ferrum scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning, including one on a
Carsen Hogston bases-loaded walk that scored a run, and two when
Kerstin Snyder ripped an RBI single to left field. Greensboro answered with a run in the fourth on M'Kenzie Davis's RBI single to rght-center. The Pride tied the game with two runs in the fifth, one on Anna Frazier's sac fly to right field and another on Kelsey Craven's RBI single up the middle to tie the game.
In the bottom of the seventh with the game tied 3-3,
Macey Moore singled through the right side, and
Kaycee Kincaid came on the pinch run. Kincaid advanced to second on a wild pitch and
Leanna Bartrug walked.
Hogsten then slapped a stinger to right-center, allowing Kincaid to round third and score the game-winning run.
Kylie Atkins pitched two and a third solid innings in relief to get the win, allowing no hits or runs.
