Baseball Wins 11-8 at Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Virginia -- Ferrum College picked up a non-conference baseball win over Mary Baldwin University, winning 11-8 this afternoon at historic John Moxie Memorial Stadium.

THE BASICS
Ferrum scored three runs in the first inning, one each on RBI singles by Clayton Michael and Bryce Thacker and another on a fielder's choice. Mary Baldwin pushed two runs across the plate in the third inning, both on RBI singles. Ferrum then scored three runs in the fifth inning, two on RBI singles by Davis Yeaman and Michael, and one on an error.

The Fighting Squirrels scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, only to see Ferrum put four more on the scoreboard in the sixth. Noah Basham had a solo homer to center field, Briggs Gentry tripled to right, Kyle Markowitz had an RBI single, Yeaman had a sac fly to right and Thacker had an RBI single to make it a 10-3 game.

Benjamin Thomas walked with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning to extend the lead to 11-3. Mary Baldwin scored three runs in the bottom half of the frame and one in the ninth for the final count.
