BUENA VISTA, Virginia -- The Ferrum College baseball team avenged an earlier season loss and picked up a 10-5 win against Southern Virginia University this afternoon in non-conference play on the road.

THE BASICS
Mason Moffett's RBI single to right field scored
Shawn Baxter for the first run of the game in the first inning.
Kyle Markowitz added a second run on a single to second base, scoring one run to put the Panthers up 2-0 through two innings. Southern Virginia tied the game up in the third on an RBI single and sac fly to right field. In the fourth, Baxter's sac flyball to right field and Moffett's RBI single down the left field line put Ferrum back up 4-2.
Matt Wright hit a solo homerun to left field in the fifth and
Clayton Michael's RBI groundout extended the lead to 6-2. The Knights got one run back on a solo homerun to right center if the bottom half of the sixth.
Southern Virginia added a run in the seventh and eighth inning  to get within two, 7-5 after eight innings of play. A three-run ninth inning provided insurance runs, when
Gus Chaffin walked with the bases loaded and Baxter hit a two RBI single through the left side.Â
