LEXINGTON, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball games to Washington and Lee University, losing both games by the same score, 10-7, this afternoon at Cap'n Dick Smith Field.

GAME ONE
Ferrum took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Kyle Markowitz scored on a catcher's interference call. Washington and Lee scored a run in the third and three in the fourth to make it a 4-1 game after four full frames. Ferrum tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning when Bryce Thacker had a three-run homer down the left field line.
 
W&L pushed three runs across the plate in the sixth inning, one in the seventh and two in the eighth to make it a 10-4 lead. Ferrum was able to scratch out three more runs in the ninth inning, one on Thacker's RBI double top left-center and two on Markowitz's two-run homer to left field.

GAME TWO
Russell Golembe's RBI triple to right-center in the top of the second inning gave Ferrum the early 1-0 lead, but the Generals scored three in the bottom half of the frame to go out in front 3-1.
 
Markowitz singled through the left side in the third inning to drive in a run, but W&L matched that with a run in the bottom of the inning to make it a 4-2 game. W&L scored four runs in the fourth inning, two on an RBI triple, to extend the lead to 8-2 after four full innings.
 
Ferrum picked up three runs in the top of the fifth inning, two on Golembe's triple to left, to trim the lead to 8-5. Washington and Lee added a run in the seventh, but the Panthers went back to work in the eighth inning, picking up a run on Markowtz's RBI double down the left field line and another on Golembe's RBI single to left field to make it a 9-7 game. The Generals added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth for the final count.
