FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College picked up a non-conference baseball win at home over Pfeiffer University, winning 21-6 tonight at Panther Field.

THE BASICS
Ferrum drew first blood with five runs in the second inning, including two on
Benjamin Thomas' RBI single through the right side and two on
Kyle Markowitz's RBI single through the left side to build a 5-0 lead.

Pfeiffer scored a run in the third, but
Gus Chaffin's RBI single to center in the bottom half of the frame drove in another run and the Panthers led 6-1 after three full innings.

The Falcons scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning, including three on Thomas Ashby's RBI double down the left field line, to trim the score to 6-5. Ferrum answered in the bottom of the frame with four runs, one on
Bryce Thacker's RBI double to left field, two on Thomas' single to right-center and one on a wild pitch to make it a 10-5 game.

The Panthers exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning, including
Clayton Michael's grand slam to left field to extend the lead to 17-5. Ferrum then added four runs in the seventh inning, one on Thomas' RBI single to right field, one on
Slade Keyser's sac fly to left, one on a fielding error and another on a wild pitch.

Ryan Brittle's team will be back in action Wednesday, April 24, at home against Averett University. The Panthers will finish an ODAC game from March 26, which was suspended due to darkness with Ferrum leading 7-0 in the eighth inning, then play a full nine-inning game.
