FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball doubleheader this afternoon at home with Randolph College. The Panthers needed an extra inning to win the opener 5-4 on a walk off RBI single, then fell 11-3 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE
Ferrum drew first blood in the opener on
Emily Hopper's RBI single up the middle in the first inning. The Panthers added a pair of runs in the third inning, one on a
Kylie Atkins RBI double to right center and another on
Brianna Michaels' RBI double to left.
Randolph scored two runs in the fourth inning on an error, then Ferrum added a run in the fifth on a dropped fly ball to make it a 4-2 game. The WildCats picked up two in the seventh, one on an error and one on an RBI, to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
In the bottom of the eighth inning,
Breanna Weaver singled through the right side, allowing
Leanna Bartrug to scamper home for the game-winning run.

Riley Young's RBI double to right-center to trim the lead to 5-3.

It was all WildCats from there, as the visitors scored two runs in the fourth, two in the sixth and two in the seventh for the final count.
