FERRUM, Virginia -- the Ferrum College baseball team split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader with nationally ranked #17 University of Lynchburg, dropping the first game 14-1 and picking up a thrilling 4-3 win in game two at Panther Field. Before the start of the game, the nine graduating seniors were honored.

GAME ONE
Lynchburg scored the games first seven runs, getting two in the first inning, one in the second and fourth and three more in the fifth. Ben Thomas hit and infield RBI single to drive in Ferrum's only run of the game. The Hornets added two more runs in the seventh on a throwing error, four in the eighth, and one more in the ninth to pick up a 14-1 win.

After three scoreless innings, Quinn Madden hit a three-run homerun in the top of the fourth to put the Hornets ahead 3-0. Ferrum got their first run in the  bottom half of the fifth, on
Davis Yeaman's fielder's choice.
Kyle Markowitz's single up the middle scored two runs and tied things up 3-3. just one inning later Yeaman's RBI single up the middle brought home
Clayton Michael to score the go-ahead run. Closer
Matthew Sheppard pitched 3.1 scoreless innings to help secure the win for the Panthers.
