Ferrum Splits ODAC Softball Doubleheader with Eagles

BRIDGEWATER, Virginia -- Ferrum College split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball twinbill with Bridgewater College this afternoon, winning the opener 8-6 and losing the nightcap 2-0 at BC Softball Field.

GAME ONE
Macey Moore's sacrifice fly to center field pushed Ferrum's first run across the plate in the top of the first inning. The Panthers added two runs in the fourth inning on Leanna Bartrug's RBI single up the middle and two more in the fifth on Wynema Thomas' RBI single to left field and Brianna Michaels' RBI single to center.

With the Panthers trailing 6-5  in the sixth inning, Riley Young made her first collegiate home run count, sending a three-run shot over the left field fence to give Ferrum the win.

GAME TWO
Bridgewater got both runs in the nightcap during the second inning, courtesy of an RBI single and an RBI double. Starting pitcher Delany Lail held Ferrum bats at bay, allowing just three hits in a complete seven-inning game with 11 strikeouts.
