FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's women's soccer team notched a non-conference win at home over Southern Virginia University, winning 2-0 tonight at Penn-Roediger Field.
RECORDS
Ferrum (6-0)
Southern Virginia (1-4-2)
THE BASICS
Following a scoreless first half, in which the Panthers had a goal nullified due to an offside call,
Ashlynn Mitcham poked a shot into the back of the Southern Virginia net in the 47th minute of play. That goal, with
Amber Nicole Gillen being credited with an assist, would hold up as the game-winner for Ferrum.
Gillen then scored an insurance goal for Ferrum at the 83:38 mark, ripping a clean shot from the right side off
Bri Bitz's free kick to close out scoring. The Panthers played solid defense from there to preserve the win and earn the team's third straight shutout.
