SALEM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped a pair of non-conference matches this afternoon in second day of action at the Maroon Classic at Roanoke College. The Panthers fell to Greensboro College 25-16, 25-14, 24-26, 26-24 in the first match, then lost to host Roanoke by a score of 25-18, 25-17, 25-14 at the Cregger Center.

FERRUM-GREENSBORO
The Panthers showed resilience but ultimately came up short, dropping the opening two sets but bouncing back to win the third set 26-24 then dropping the fourth set by the same score. Ferrum was led by Jaycee Chaffin who had fourteen kills and Harleigh Propst with twelve assists.

FERRUM-ROANOKE
Ferrum dropped their fourth match of the Maroon Classic losing 3-0. , only to see the Spirits come back to take the next two sets and force a winner-take-all fifth set. The score was tied at 2-2 in the fifth and deciding set when Salem went on a 12-2 run then hung on for the win.  Kenzee Chaffin had eleven assists and ten digs, Jaycee Chaffin added eight kills, Savanna Walker had twelve digs.

ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
At the end of the two day-event, an All-Tournament Team was announced and Ferrum's Savanna Walker was chosen. The complete team included: Jeanna Fowler (Methodist), Rachel Hall (Hollins), Morgan Mayfield (Greensboro), Kayla Simmons (NC Wesleyan), Anna Rymer (Salem), Savanna Walker (Ferrum), Brooklyn Finnerty (Randolph) and Peyton Kirchner (Roanoke).

UP NEXT
Coach Shelbylynn Adair's team will look to bounce back as they host Roanoke College next Tuesday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. This match will be the conference opener for both teams.
