Baseball Dominates Squirrels

STAUNTON, Virginia – Ferrum College's baseball team defeated Mary Baldwin 24-5. Shawn Baxter was 4-5 and knocked in 6 runs to lead the Panthers. Ferrum exploded for 10 runs in the top of the 7 inning to put the game out of reach for the Fighting Squirrels.

THE BASICS
Ferrum took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Mary Baldwin responded in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead. Ferrum then scored the next 21 runs to put the game out of reach. Eli Elliott had 4 RBIs. Jackson Hutchinson was 4 for 6 with 2 RBIs. JJ Mulhern showed his speed, stealing 3 bases. Ferrum used a multitude of pitchers. Carson Wetmore picked up the win for his efforts. He pitched 2 innings, giving up only one hit, striking out one and giving up no runs.

UP NEXT
Coach Eric Owen's team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 11 against Hampden Sydney. The game is set for a 3:30 PM start.
