FERRUM, Virginia – Ferrum College's baseball team split their double header with Bridgewater College this afternoon. The Panthers won game one 2-1 and dropped the second game 17-8.
Carlos Castillo went 3-4 in the first game with an RBI. In the second game,
Shawn Baxter led the Panthers going 2-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

GAME ONE
Ferrum scored all the runs they would need in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead.
Tyler Mason started the game off with a double to left field. Castillo came up next and doubled to right center scoring Mason. Baxter hit the third double in a row but Castillo was thrown out at home.
Gregory Melo singled to left scoring the eventual game winning run. The Eagles managed one run in the top of the second inning.
Matthew Sheppard picked up the win for Ferrum. Sheppard pitched two innings and gave up no earned runs.
Jorge Garcia pitched 5.1 innings and picked up his second save of the season.
GAME TWO
Bridgewater used a seven run sixth inning in route to a 17-8 win over the Panthers. Ferrum used 9 pitchers and the Eagles used 6 pitchers in a game that saw 30 hits combined. Baxter went 2-3 with an RBI.
Gregory Melo, Jackson Hutchinson and
JJ Tyree each had two RBIs to lead Ferrum.

Coach Eric Owen's team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 18 against Southern Virginia. The game is set for a 3:00 PM start in Ferrum, Virginia.
