Southern Virginia (3-11)

THE BASICS
Ferrum lit up the scoreboard first with four runs in the bottom of the third inning, one on Tyree's single to center and three when JJ Mulhern tripled to left and then scored on the throw. Seth Lloyd had a grand slam for Southern Virginia in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4, but Ferrum picked up a run in the bottom half of the frame to go back out in front 5-4.

Stockton Hall's double to right field in the top of the seventh drove in two runs to allow the Knights to grab a 7-6 lead at the seventh inning stretch. Jackson Hutchinson's sac fly to left field in the bottom of the seventh tied the game at 7-7, then Tyree's walk off RBI single up the middle pushed Hutchinson across the plate to end the game in the ninth.

Jorge Garcia (2-0) earned the win on the mound after pitching the final inning and allowing a hit and no runs, with one strikeout. Hutchinson went 3-3 with two runs and an RBI. Tyree closed the game 3-5 at the plate with a run and two RBI.
