SALEM, Virginia -- Roanoke College scored a run in the bottom of the 10th inning to post a 7-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball win over Ferrum College tonight at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium.

THE BASICS
Roanoke scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, only to see Ferrum pick up a run in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to trim the lead to 3-2. The Panthers then scored three in the seventh inning to go out in front 5-3, but Roanoke rallied with three runs in the bottom half of the frame to take a 6-5 lead.
Gregory Melo's RBI single to third base in the top of the eighth inning tied the game at 6-6. The Maroons' Ken McKeever pinch hit in the bottom of the 10th inning and reached on a fielding error, which allowed Hayden Giordano to score the game-winning run unearned.
Giordano (1-0) pitched the final three innings of the game to collect the win for Roanoke. He allowed two hits and a walk, with a pair of strikeouts.
Jorge Garcia (0-1) absorbed the loss for the Panthers, scattering five hits over three and two third innings, with two earned runs, a walk and no strikeouts.
Corey Coogan went 3-5 at the plate for the Maroons with a double and three RBI. Melo went 3-3 for the Panthers with two runs and a pair of RBI, and was also struck by a pitch.
