Baseball Drops Two with Yellow Jackets

ASHLAND, Virginia - Ferrum College's baseball team dropped two games today against Randolph Macon. Randolph Macon won the first game 18-11 and then topped the Panthers 14-10 in the second game. Carlos Castillo knocked in 7 RBIs on the day. Seth Shannon had the hot bat going 5 for 9 and knocking in 6 runs.

GAME ONE
Ferrum got on the board in top of the first when Shawn Baxter singled to first and Seth Shannon homered. The Yellow Jackets responded in the bottom half of the inning with 4 runs to take the lead. In the top of the 8th, Ferrum got to within four runs when they put three on the board. With the bases loaded, Eli Elliott hit a sac fly to score Shannon. JJ Mulhern then doubled down the left field line to score JJ Tyree and Gregory Melo. Unfortunately, Randolph Macon responded in the bottom of the inning scoring three of their own to make the final score 18-11. The Yellow Jackets had 15 hits to the Panthers 12.  Mulhern lead the Panthers going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs.

GAME TWO
Randolph Macon scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to build their lead. The game featured 17 hits for the Panthers to the Yellow Jackets 15. Despite being down, Ferrum battled back and scored three in the top of the 9th inning to make the final 14-10.  Shannon went 2 for 5 and knocked in 2 RBIs. Tyree was 3 for 5. Freshman Carter Liverman came in and pitched two complete innings giving up 0 earned runs. 

UP NEXT
Coach Eric Owens team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 25th against Guilford College. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. in Ferrum at Panther field.
