RALEIGH, North Carolina -- Ferrum College wrapped up action at the Triangle Collegiate Softball Tournament this afternoon with a pair of wins. The Panthers opened the day with a 9-1 win over Gallaudet University then finished with a 9-1 win over Marymount University at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.

GAME ONE
Against Gallaudet, Ferrum built an 8-1 lead after two innings, tacked on a run in the bottom of the third inning on
Lexi Bennett's RBI single through the left side, then held on for the run rule win.
Riley Young had a two-run homer to right center in the first inning, and Bennett finished the game 3-3 with two runs and a pair of RBI.
Emily Wood (2-4) earned a win in the circle with a complete five-inning game, allowing one hit, one run and one walk, while striking out six batters.
GAME TWO
In the nightcap, Ferrum scored a run in the first inning and two in the second to grab the early 3-0 lead. Marymount scored a run in the fifth to cut the lead to 3-1. Ferrum's
Georgia Carter drilled a pinch-hit RBI double to right center that drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame and Wood had a sac fly to left field that made it a 6-1 game after five innings. In the sixth and final inning, Young had an RBI single and
Mirenda Shields had a sac fly to left to make it an 8-1 score, then
Kenadee McCullough drilled an RBI single to left to end the game. Starter
Amber Greiner (5-2) picked up the win after pitching five innings and allowing five hits, one run and one walk, with three strikeouts.
UP NEXT
Coach Joshua Freemsn's team will be back in action Sunday, March 16, at home against Roanoke College. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start at VVK Field.
