FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped a non-conference baseball game at home to Southern Virginia University, falling 18-8 tonight at Panther Field.

THE BASICS
The two teams were tied 6-6 after five full innings when Southern Virginia erupted for 11 runs in the sixth inning to break the game open.

Included in the sixth-inning barrage was a three-run homer to left by the Knights' Ryan Farris. Kyle Markowitz closed the game 2-2 at the plate with a pair of runs for Ferrum.

Coach Eric Owens' team will be back in action Saturday, April 12, at home against Shenandoah University. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader is set for a noon start at Panther Field and will be preceded by a Senior Day ceremony for 11 graduating players.
