WILSON, N.C. — Ferrum College's men's basketball team picked up a hard-fought 81–76 win over Barton College in Conference Carolinas play Friday, January 30, at Wilson Gymnasium.

THE BASICS
The win gave Ferrum a sweep of the home-and-away Conference Carolinas series this season. The Panthers also won 79–78 over the Bulldogs January 7 at home.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with nine lead changes. Barton built a nine-point lead when Trey Fields hit a three-pointer to make it 45–36 with 1:57 left in the first half.
Gerren Jones had a pair of layups for Ferrum to cut the lead to 45–40 at the break.
The Bulldogs went on a 13–5 run in the first few minutes of the second half, taking a 13-point lead, 58–45, on a Fields layup at 14:37.
Amaris Hunt and Jones started a run for the Panthers with back-to-back three-pointers. Jones would hit another trey, then
Rodrigo Farias got Ferrum to within three points after he sank a pair of free throws. Jones then drilled another three-pointer at 10:40 to tie the game at 59–59.
Two more jumpers by Jones, followed by a layup each by
Abdulh Diaby and Farias, put Ferrum on top 68–63 at the 6:47 mark. The Panthers stayed in front down the stretch and held on for the league road win.
