FERRUM, Va. -- The Ferrum College men's soccer team battled No. 7 Francis Marion University through a scoreless first half, but the Patriots scored the deciding goal in the 70th minute to edge the Panthers, 1-0, in Conference Carolinas action this afternoon at Penn-Roediger Field.

Michael Arzillo made two saves in the first half to keep the match scoreless at the break.
Francis Marion continued to pressure the Ferrum defense early in the second half and broke through in the 70th minute when Victor Baron da Silva scored off an assist from Sebastian Gough to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.
Ferrum continued to battle and earned a corner kick in the 77th minute, but Francis Marion goalkeeper Vicent Sanchis kept the Panthers off the scoreboard. Arzillo made eight saves in the second half, finishing with 10 saves for the match.
