DUE WEST, S.C. -- Ferrum College's baseball team opened Conference Carolinas play today on the road, falling 6-5 in 10 innings at Erskine College this afternoon at Grier Field.

THE BASICS
Ferrum scored four runs in the top of the second inning.
Niko Papathanasiou crossed the plate courtesy of a fielding error by an Erskine outfielder, then
Smith Dickinson mashed a three-run homer down the left field line to spot Ferrum an early 4-1 lead.
The Panthers then picked up a run in the top of the fifth inning off
Garrett Pancione's RBI double to left field to make it a 5-1 game.
Erskine rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-5. The game remained tied into the 10th inning when EC's Andrew Tabares had a pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the frame to drive in the game-winning run for the Flying Fleet.
