FERRUM, Va. -- Conference Carolinas has announced men's and women's basketball weekly awards and Ferrum College's
Gerren Jones has been honored as Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for his work in two league games last week.
A senior guard from Swansboro, North Carolina, Jones averaged 28 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals in helping Ferrum go 2-0 and improve to 12-7 overall and 10-3 in league play.Â
In an 85-67 win over Lees-McRae College January 28 at home, Jones had 23 points, six rebounds and four steals. Then in an 81-76 win over Barton College January 30 on the road, Jones had a game-high 33 points with five three-pointers, five rebounds and two steals.
Through 19 games, Jones is averaging 22 points and 3.9 rebounds for the Panthers. Ferrum is back in action Wednesday, February 4, at King University. The Conference Carolinas doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m. with the women's game and the will be followed immediately by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
