CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Ferrum College opened the 2026 baseball season with a doubleheader split with Concord University, played this afternoon at Knothill Foundation Field at the Richard "Stick" Williams Dream Fields.

GAME ONE
Concord got a run in the bottom of the first inning when Matthew DiSanto scored on a wild pitch. Ferrum tied the game in the sixth inning when CJ Kemmerer scored a run off Hunter Carlson's sacrifice fly to center field. The game went into a 12th inning, where Nick DiSanti's sac fly to left field allowed Matthew DiSanto to score the walk off game-winning run.

GAME TWO
Kemmerer scored in the top of the first inning off Niko Papathanasiou's RBI double down the left field line to spot Ferrum the early 1-0 lead. Sam Stowe had a two-run homer to right field in the bottom of the frame for the 2-1 Concord lead. Ferrum picked up a run in the third when Gage Miller's RBI single up the middle scored Garrett Pancione. Papathanasiou scored an unearned run in the sixth inning to put Ferrum on top 3-2, and the Panthers held on for the win.

Coach Eric Owens' team will be back in action Friday and Saturday, February 13-14, with a three-game Conference Carolinas series at Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. The two teams are scheduled to play a single game Friday at 2:00 p.m., then two games Saturday starting at 11:00 a.m.
