EMORY, Va. – Ferrum College erupted for 22 runs on 20 hits to defeat Emory & Henry University, 22–6, in a non-conference baseball road game this afternoon at Porterfield-DeVault Field.

THE BASICS
Ferrum broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with a five-run rally to take control early. The Panthers strung together several hits during the frame, highlighted by a two-run double from
Jachob Walters as Ferrum built a 5–0 advantage.
The Panthers extended their lead in the fourth inning with a 10-run outburst. Walters delivered the biggest swing of the inning with a grand slam, while
Garrett Pancione added a two-run hit and
JJ Mulhern contributed with a sacrifice fly as Ferrum surged ahead 15–1.
Emory & Henry pushed across a run in the third inning and added two more in the fifth to trim the deficit to 15–3, but Ferrum continued to apply pressure at the plate. The Panthers plated another run in the fifth inning before Mulhern launched a three-run home run during a six-run seventh inning that stretched the lead to 22–5.
The Wasps added one final run in the bottom of the seventh, but the Panthers' offensive explosion proved too much to overcome.
On the mound,
Hunter Carlson earned the win after pitching five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four.
Drew Fisher and
Gavin Stone combined to finish the game out of the bullpen.
Ferrum's offense was paced by Walters, who finished 3-for-4 with a home run and seven RBIs. Mulhern added three hits, including two doubles and a home run, driving in six runs. Pancione contributed four RBIs, while
Gage Miller recorded two hits and two RBIs.
