FERRUM, Va. – Ferrum College rolled to a 13–0 victory over Barton College in an Conference Carolinas baseball game this afternoon at Panther Field.

THE BASICS
Ferrum wasted little time getting on the board, scoring in the bottom of the first inning when
Niko Papathanasiou stole second and
Tyler Mason raced home on the throw to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
The Panthers broke the game open in the second inning with a four-run rally. Mason started the scoring with an RBI double to left-center before
Jayden Singleton scored on a wild pitch.
Jachob Walters capped the inning with a two-run homer to left-center, expanding Ferrum's lead to 5–0.
Ferrum continued to add on in the third inning. Papathanasiou came around to score on a throwing error before Singleton drove in
Garrett Pancione on a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 7-0. The Panthers added two more runs in the fourth inning.
CJ Kemmerer delivered an RBI single to score Mason, and another run crossed the plate on a Barton fielding error to make it a 9-0 game.
Ferrum's offense erupted again in the sixth inning with three consecutive solo home runs. Pancione,
Hunter Carlson, and
Colin Kim each launched homers to left field, stretching the Panthers' lead to 12–0. Ferrum plated its final run in the seventh inning when Carlson doubled to right-center to bring home
Matthew Graham, sealing the 13–0 league win.
On the mound, starter
Garrett Sawyer earned the win after tossing six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out six Bulldog batters.
Nathan Mecke closed the game with three shutout innings to earn his first save of the season, allowing just one hit and striking out three batters.
