FERRUM, Va. -- Conference Carolinas has named its Players of the Week and Ferrum College sophomore
Gracious Wise has been named Women's Flag Football Defensive Player of the Week. This is her first such honor.
Wise was a defensive machine in helping Ferrum go 3-0 last week and keeping its win streak alive at six games. The Panthers outscored their opponents 121-6 in three games last week. Wise's three-game stat line included nine flag pulls, eight of which were for loss, and seven sacks for 43 yards. Her constant pressure had quarterbacks scrambling in all three contests.Â
In a 75-0 win over Hollins University Wednesday, March 18, on the road, Wise had three flag pulls, two for loss, and a sack for six yards. The Panthers then hosted Mount St. Mary's University and Emmanuel University Saturday, March 21, and picked up a pair of wins.Â
In Ferrum's 32-6 win over Mount St. Mary's, Wise had three flag pulls, all three for loss and recorded three sacks for 17 yards. She then had three flag pulls, all three for loss, and three sacks for 20 yards against Emmanuel.
Coach
Garrett Roth's team returns to action Sunday, March 29, in Bristol, Tennessee. The Panthers are scheduled to take on Mount Saint Mary's University at 2:30 p.m., then face host King University at 4:00 p.m.
