THE BASICS
Emmanuel jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Ferrum quickly responded and took control with a four-run third inning to secure the lead for good.
Garrett Pancione led the offensive charge with a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. His three-run homer in the third inning highlighted the decisive frame that turned a deficit into a 5-2 Ferrum advantage. Jachob Walters also delivered a strong performance, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and RBI.
Ferrum got on the board in the second inning with a solo home run from Pancione before erupting in the third. After tying the game on an RBI double from Niko Papathanasiou, Pancione's three-run blast put the Panthers firmly in control. The Panthers continued to build their lead throughout the middle innings. Walters added a solo home run in the fourth, and Ferrum capitalized on Emmanuel miscues in the fifth to extend the lead to 8-4. Additional runs in the sixth and seventh innings provided insurance.
On the mound, Campbell Short earned the win after tossing five innings, allowing four runs while striking out five. Garrett Sawyer was effective in relief, going four innings and allowing just one run while striking out four to close out the game. Emmanuel threatened in the fifth inning, scoring twice on an RBI double from Aidan Feather, but Ferrum responded immediately and maintained control the rest of the way.
